What the PowerWave 250 is used for

An electric vehicle on charge inside an EMC chamber needs a supply that is both AC and DC, large, and clean. The PowerWave 250 provides both in one footprint and supports charging in Mode 3 (AC) and Mode 4 (DC); with a separate charging station simulator the common charging standards are covered.

For components it is a bidirectional source up to 1500 V DC, so drives can be tested in motor and generator mode and batteries charged and discharged, while power recovery reduces heat and energy consumption. Its slew rate is sufficient for the voltage dynamics tests of ISO 21498, LV 123 and VW 80300. As a grid simulator it generates harmonics, interharmonics, variations, unbalance and frequency changes for the IEC 61000-4 power quality immunity tests.
