Why it matters

Immunity levels are set by a power meter, so the sensor's calibration factor is the test level

RF immunity systems for IEC 61000-4-3 and IEC 61000-4-6 record forward power during field calibration and replay it during the test. The power sensor's calibration factor at each frequency and its linearity across the level range therefore define the field applied to the product. Sensors drift with connector wear and thermal cycling, and dual-directional couplers add their own error, so both are calibrated.

Questions we are asked

Do you calibrate the sensor and meter together or separately?

Both. The meter's reference output and readout are checked, and the sensor's calibration factor and linearity are measured with a reference sensor, so each can be used with other units afterwards.

Can sensors inside an immunity system be calibrated in place?

Yes. Sensors in Teseq NSG 4070 systems and forward and reverse sensors on amplifier couplers are calibrated in situ, together with the coupler.

Are USB sensors covered?

Yes. USB and LAN sensors such as the NRP-Z, NRPxxS and U2000 families are calibrated for calibration factor and linearity in the same way as diode and thermal sensors.

Which countries do you cover on site?

Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, with Penang as the base. Other locations on request.
