Open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, front time, time to half value and phase shifting of combination wave and ring-wave generators measured on site under LAB Support Ltd.'s A2LA accredited ISO/IEC 17025 scope.
The 1.2/50 us open-circuit voltage and the 8/20 us short-circuit current define the combination wave. Both are specified with tolerances at the generator output and, with coupling networks, at the EUT port. Ring-wave generators to IEC 61000-4-12 and ANSI C62.45 add their own oscillation frequency and decay. Drift in the impulse capacitors or wave-shaping resistors changes the energy delivered to your product without changing the display.
| Parameter | Range | Common methods and standards |
|---|---|---|
| Open-circuit voltage peak | 0.001 kV to 8 kV | IEC/EN 61000-4-5, ANSI C62.41.2, oscilloscope with HV divider |
| Short-circuit current peak | 0.001 kA to 4 kA | IEC/EN 61000-4-5, current transducer, oscilloscope |
| Front time, rise time, time to half value | 0.5 ns to 60 s | IEC/EN 61000-4-5 |
| Open-circuit phase shifting | 0 to 360 degrees | IEC/EN 61000-4-5 |
| Ring-wave voltage, current and oscillation frequency | 100 kHz to 2 MHz | IEC/EN 61000-4-12, ANSI C62.45 |
| CDN output, line to line and line to earth | With the generator | IEC/EN 61000-4-5 clause 6 |
The methods and standards shown are the ones most commonly requested. Within each parameter and range listed on the accredited scope, other calibration methods and standard editions can be supported under the flexible-scope provisions of LAB Support's A2LA accreditation. The measurement uncertainty for each parameter is stated on the certificate. Field calibration is included in the scope for every line above.
From our own calibration records. Any instrument within the scope can be calibrated; these are the ones we see most.
Yes. IEC 61000-4-5 sets separate requirements at the EUT port of the coupling/decoupling network, so line-to-line and line-to-earth waveforms are verified there as well as at the generator output.
Yes. Telecom surge modules such as the EM TEST TSS 500N and Teseq telecom CDNs are calibrated for the 10/700 us waveform at the same visit.
Ring-wave and damped-oscillatory generators are calibrated to IEC 61000-4-12 and IEC 61000-4-18, including oscillation frequency and decay, and ANSI C62.45 where required.
