Harmonics and flicker system calibration to IEC 61000-3-2 and -3-3

Harmonic current measurement, flicker Pst evaluation, reference impedance and AC source output measured on site under LAB Support Ltd.'s A2LA accredited ISO/IEC 17025 scope, by the LAB Support Southeast Asia team.

Why it matters

Three instruments, one result, each with its own standard

A harmonics and flicker system is an AC source, a reference impedance and an analyser working together. IEC 61000-4-7 sets the accuracy of the harmonic current measurement, IEC 61000-4-15 the flickermeter response, and IEC 61000-3-3 the reference impedance the flicker is measured through. An error in any one shifts the pass/fail decision of a product test, so all three are calibrated at the same visit.

  • AC current including harmonics to 200 A per IEC 61000-4-7
  • Flicker Pst evaluation against the IEC 61000-4-15 test signals
  • Reference impedance resistance and inductance at 50 and 60 Hz
  • AC source voltage, frequency and distortion

The methods and standards shown are the ones most commonly requested. Within each parameter and range listed on the accredited scope, other calibration methods and standard editions can be supported under the flexible-scope provisions of LAB Support's A2LA accreditation. The measurement uncertainty for each parameter is stated on the certificate. Field calibration is included in the scope for every line above.

Frequently asked

Questions we are asked

Is the flickermeter tested with the IEC 61000-4-15 signals?

Yes. The rectangular voltage change test signals of IEC 61000-4-15 are applied and the Pst reading compared with the expected value.

Do you calibrate the reference impedance separately?

Yes. Resistance and inductance of the reference impedance are measured at 50 and 60 Hz, since IEC 61000-3-3 defines the flicker result through them.

Can a three-phase system be calibrated on site?

Yes, per phase, up to the current range of the scope.

Which countries do you cover on site?

Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, with Penang as the base. Other locations on request.
